Does electrolysis hurt?
It depends on the person and the area being treated. Some people describe electrolysis as a small prickling or pinching sensation. Some others descibe it as a warming or heat sensation on the area being treated.
Electrolysis can be adapted to the person being treated, your therapist can adapt the intensity based on your needs.
How does electrolysis work?
Electrolysis involves the insertion of a very fine, disposable, sterile needle (the same diameter as the hair) into the hair follicle. A tiny amount of electrical current is then passed into the hair follicle to kill it and to prevent re-growth.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required to clear an area of hair, will depend on the density of the hair growth. For example in the same area of skin one person might have 50 hairs whereas another might have 500. But you will see a noticeable difference on starting your electrolysis treatment.
Not all hair grows at the same rate, so as you remove some hairs, you will find others start growing. You will need regular treatments to ensure the new hair growth is treated too.
Hair thickness, skin sensitivity, dryness and other factors affect how quickly each hair can be eliminated. Appointment times can vary from as little as 10 minutes to as much as an hour, depending on how large an area needs to be treated.
Is electrolysis suitable for pregnant women?
TAO uses a mix of Thermolysis/Shortwave diathermy and blend for electrolysis. The thermolysis method is safe for pregnant women as it uses a weaker intensity of current.

Electrolysis treatment for PCOS
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder affecting women of reproductive age. It is characterized by the presence of multiple cysts on the ovaries and is often accompanied by symptoms such as irregular periods, excess hair growth, and infertility. While there are various treatments available for PCOS, one that has proven to be effective is electrolysis. Electrolysis for PCOS involves the use of a low-level electrical current to destroy the root of the hair follicle, thus preventing hair growth. This method is highly effective and provide permanent results, making it a popular choice for women struggling with the symptoms of PCOS. By targeting the root of the hair follicle, electrolysis for PCOS can help to reduce hair growth, improve self-esteem and boost confidence in women affected by the condition.
